Scanning and not reading is what users will do in your website. So, is your page optimized for scanning?
Here are some tips:
- What you should do is follow conventions. If a button deletes something make it red just like your user expects it to be: Delete
- Visual hierarchy is very important too. Make sure you have keywords on your titles and you use same html tags for relevant information.
- Have clear call to actions and make clear what's clickable. Don't make users wonder if something is a link. Also make sure it's obvious what happens when a link is clicked.
- Avoid 'noisy' pages. Avoid things that draw attention like banners and sliders. Users should notice with scanning and not reading what page is about and what actions they can take.
